ABOUT Segdalu RECIPE

This is my husband favourite dish. Whenever I make segdalu he is ready to eat it. For his bday party its the best gift for him. This one also I learn from my badi jethani while some tips I got to know from my aunty which is really helpful for me

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup sooji
  2. 1 cup Rice flour
  3. 2 Cups Water
  4. 2 tsp sesame seeds
  5. 2 tsp Chana Dal
  6. 1 tbsp moong dal
  7. 1 tsp hing
  8. 2 tsp Red Chili powder
  9. 1 tsp turmeric powder
  10. 2-3 green chillies chopped
  11. 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
  12. 2 tsp oil
  13. Salt according to taste
  14. 1tbsp sesame seeds for garnishing
  15. Oil for Deep frying

Instructions

  1. Take all the above ingredients except oil in a big bowl. Stir it properly.
  2. Turn on the gas and stir all the ingredients in a slow flame till it becomes a soft dough. Turn off gas and cool.
  3. Take little oil in a palm and take small portions of dough and make small balls. On a plate take 1 tsp sesame seeds and spread over the plate.
  4. Keep 5-6 balls on a plate and roll them on plate so that all sesame seeds coat on the balls. In this way make the rest dough.
  5. Now roll the sesame seeds balls and shape them like bangles as shown in the picture. Heat oil and deep fry all the segdalus till brown.
  6. Serve this with tomato chutney or sauce.
