ABOUT Sepu Badi with spinch(himachali cuisine) RECIPE

Sepu Badi is a himachali cusine witch is made in Mandi dham..The sepu badis are urad dal dumplings, which are made by soaking and grinding urad dal with spices.. I have taken this recipe from youtube but tweaked a bit .. I have used ready-made Badis(dumpling)

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Sepu badi 10-15 pieces fried
  2. Spinach two bundles 1kg approximately
  3. salt as per taste
  4. jeera cumin seed 1tsp
  5. methi dana 1 tsp
  6. Chily powder 1tsp
  7. Turmeric 1tsp
  8. Dania powder tsp
  9. Clove 4-5
  10. Green eliachi 4-5
  11. Cinnamon stick small
  12. Red dry chilly2-3 no
  13. Hing tsp
  14. Bay leaf 2-3
  15. Green chilly 2-3
  16. chopped onion 2
  17. Tomato 2 chopped
  18. Mustered oil 3-4 tsp
  19. Zinger garlic paste 2 tsp

Instructions

  1. Wash and cut spinach first
  2. Boil spinach adding salt ,green chillies and Ginger garlic paste for ten min and make puree of it
  3. Now prepare dry ingredients for tadka
  4. Now put 4-5 tsp of mustard oil in a pan and add all the dry ingredients one by one
  5. While the tadka is being done, boil the sepu badis in boiling water for 3-4 minutes.
  6. When the tadka is ready, add spinach puree and badis (Dumplings) in it and cook for few min. Now check the dumplings it they are soft then switch off gas.. And it is ready to be served.. You can serve it with rice or chapati..
