Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Yellow split pea (Matar dal)- 1 1/2 Cup
  2. Urad dal- 1/2 cup
  3. Onion- 1 finely chopped
  4. Green chilies- 4 finely chopped
  5. Ginger- 2 tsp chopped
  6. Fresh coriander- 1/4 cup chopped
  7. Salt- to taste
  8. Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Rinse the yellow split pea and urad dal thoroughly in water and soak it for about 3-4 hours in water. Once the dals are soaked, coarsely grind it in the mixer grinder or food processor.
  2. Take the dal batter in a mixing bowl and add onion, green chili, coriander, ginger and salt to taste mix well all the ingredients. check the seasoning of batter and if required add a little salt and mix it well.
  3. To fry dal vada, heat oil in a frying pan/ kadhai. Once the oil is hot take a portion of vada batter and carefully put it in hot oil.
  4. Fry the vada till it is golden in color. With the help of strainer take the vada out.
  5. Place the vada on the paper napkin/ kichen towel so that excess oil will get soaked. Delicious dal vada are ready to serve. You can serve these vada hot along with some fresh mint-coriander chutney.
