Ingredients to make Namak paare

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 cup wheat flour
  • 2 tablespoons sooji
  • 2 tablespoons ghee
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp ajwain seeds
  • 1 tbsp chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp pepper powder
  • 1 tbsp chilli flakes
  • Salt as needed
  • Water for kneading
  • Oil to deep fry

How to make Namak paare

  1. In a mixing bowl sieve the flours and add the ghee and mix well. It will resemble coarse crumbs.
  2. Now add the sooji and the rest of the ingredients and mix well again.
  3. Keep the dough aside for 10-15 minutes. The dough should neither be very hard nor very soft.
  4. In a pan heat oil to deep fry. Now take the dough and make balls out of it.
  5. Take a ball and roll it to a flat circle using a rolling pin. Now take a knife and make equal spaced vertical cuts from one end to other. Make another cut horizontally in the same pattern
  6. Gently put these cut pieces into the hot oil and deep fry them until they are done.
  7. Serve hot or you can also store these in an air tight container for at least 3 weeks.
