Ingredients to make Drumsticks curry

  • 2 Drumsticks
  • 6-7 Whole black pepper
  • 2-3 cloves
  • 1 small pc of cinnamon
  • 1tsp coriander seeds
  • 2 medium sized onions peeled and roasted on gas flame
  • 3-4 green chillies
  • 3-4 pods of garlic
  • 1 tbsp fresh coconut grated
  • handful of coriander leaves
  • 1tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp jeera
  • 3-4 tbsp oil
  • salt to taste
  • water 8 to 10 cups

How to make Drumsticks curry

  1. Peel and chop the drumsticks into finger size peices.
  2. Add a little salt to 8 cups of water and bring it to boil.
  3. Add drumstick to it and boil till cooked. U can press the drumstick to check for doneness.
  4. Dry roast the coriander seeds black pepper clove cinnamon and chana dal.
  5. After it cools, grind it to fine powder.
  6. In a pan add 1 tsp oil add the roasted onions cut into peices and saute for 2 to 3 mins.
  7. In the same pan roast the green chilli and garlic pods together and lastly the coconut.
  8. Add all these roasted ingredientsinto the spice powder we had made.
  9. Add a handful of coriander leaves and some water and grind it in a smooth paste.
  10. In a thick bottomed kadai add 2 to 3 tbsp of oil. Add jeera and let it splutter.
  11. Add the masala paste and saute it on medium flame till it starts leaving oil from the sides.
  12. Keep stirring in between otherwise the paste will stick to the pan.
  13. After the masala leaves oil add red chillu powder and mix it and saute for 3 to 4 minutes.
  14. Add the cooked drumsticks and mix it well so that they get coated with the masala.
  15. Add salt ar per your taste. I would suggest to keep it on a lower side as we had added salt to drumsticks while boiling.
  16. Add water as per the consistency u require.i have added almost 2 cups of water as we like it little runny consistency.
  17. Bring it to boil.
  18. Your drumstick curry is ready
  19. Serve it with plain fulka and jeera rice.
