Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Onion......2
  2. Jaggery powder....5 spoon
  3. Salt.....1spoon
  4. Tamarind...1 big lemon size
  5. Dry red chilly.....2
  6. Green chilly...4
  7. curry leaves....10
  8. Mustard......1/4 spoon
  9. Asafoetida....1/2 spoon
  10. Coconut oil....1 &1/2 spoon
  11. Jeera.....1/4 spoon
  12. urad dal.....1/4 spoon(option)
  13. Chana dal....1/4 spoon(option)

Instructions

  1. Soak tamarind in water for a while.Squeeze them out of water and place them on fresh water.
  2. For while and squeeze them out again.
  3. Add 300ml water(tamarind water is what we require).
  4. Add jaggery and salt to the tamarind water & mix them.
  5. Prepare a tempering using oil, mustard,red chilly,green chilly,urad dal,chana dal, jeera,curry leaves & asafoetida.
  6. Add finely chopped onion to it and fry them.
  7. Now add the above to the mixed tamarind water..mix them well.
  8. onion gojju is ready.
  9. we can also make raw onion gojju by adding onion directly to tamarind water without frying.
