Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Arhar dal – 1 /2 cups
  2. Vegetables cut into medium pieces
  3. Raw banana- 3/4 cup
  4. Broad beans - 7 to 8
  5. Yam - 7 to 8 cubes
  6. Radish - 1 cut into cubes
  7. Turmeric powder- 1 teaspoon
  8. Ginger green chilly paste- 2 teaspoon
  9. Grated Coconut- ½ cup
  10. Dry Red Chillies- 4
  11. Cumin – 1 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Soak the dals for atleast 15 minutes before cooking.
  2. Take 3 teaspoon cumin seeds and 2 red chilies and roast it in a dry pan with a bay leaf. Grind it into a fine powder.
  3. In a large pan take about 2 cups of water and boil it. Add the dals, ginger, green chilly paste, turmeric powder, and salt to taste. Cover the dal and boil until it is half cooked.
  4. Then add the pieces of yam and let it cook for another 6 minutes. Add vegetables to the dal and cover the pan till the vegetables are tender.
  5. In another pan, take 2 teaspoon ghee and add the cumin. After the seeds crackle, add the remaining 3 red chillies and add some grated coconut,
  6. Finally add to the boiled dal and vegetable mixture to it slowly. Cover and cook for 5 minutes and then sprinkle the cumin and red bay leaf powder over it.
  7. Garnish with grated coconut, chopped coriander leaves and fried red chillies.
  8. Then temper it.. Happy cooking
