ABOUT Stromboli RECIPE

Stromboli is a type of turnover filled with various cheeses, typically mozzarella, vegetables. The dough traditionally used is Italian bread dough.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For Dough:
  2. 2c All purpose flour
  3. 1tsp Baking powder
  4. 1tsp Dry active yeast
  5. 1tsp Sugar
  6. Olive oil
  7. Water
  8. Salt
  9. For Filling:
  10. 1pckt Sausage or 2c Shredded chicken
  11. 1small Capsicum
  12. 1 Onion
  13. 1/2c Sweet corn cooked
  14. 1tsp Pepper powder
  15. Ketchup For spreading
  16. White sauce
  17. Olives
  18. Oil
  19. Mozzarella cheese
  20. Other Ingredients:
  21. 1 Egg for brushing
  22. Sesame seeds for sprinkling
  23. For White Sauce:
  24. 1tbsp Butter
  25. 2tsp All purpose flour
  26. 1c Milk
  27. 1/2tsp Oregano
  28. 1/4tsp Parsley
  29. 1/4tsp Thyme
  30. 1/4tsp Basil
  31. Salt

Instructions

  1. Dough:
  2. Warm the water and sprinkle the sugar and yeast in this. Set aside for 5 mins. In a bowl put flour baking powder and salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture to this and knead well and add the oil in between kneading the dough. Knead the dough well till soft and keep this aside for 2 hrs till it rises to double.
  4. Making White Sauce:
  5. Heat the butter in a pan and mix the flour and saute well. Now add milk and mix well. Add salt, oregano, parsley, basil and thyme and mix well. Boil till the sauce becomes thick and creamy. Off the flame and the sauce is ready.
  6. Making the Filling:
  7. In a pan put oil and put the sausage or chicken and saute well. Add salt and pepper powder to this and mix well. Cook the sausage well and off the flame.
  8. Assembling and Baking:
  9. Once the dough is doubled well punch down the air. Sprinkle some flour on working space and roll the dough into a large rectangle. Now spread ketchup. Now put the cooked sausage or chicken. Then put the diced veggies ,olives and corn.
  10. Spread the prepared white sauce and mozzarella cheese. Now roll this into a log. Now form this to a circle. Now beat the egg slightly and give a egg wash on the Stromboli.
  11. Sprinkle sesame seeds over this. Now give small cuts on the Stromboli. Grease a round baking tray and keep the Stromboli on the tray.
  12. Preheat the oven at 200 degree C for 10 mins. Bake the Stromboli at 180 degree c for 15 to 20 mins or till its cooked. Cut into pieces and serve.

Very nice . I will try in veg. I think it is like pizza variety. ???
