Chenna Murki

Ingredients to make Chenna Murki

  • Milk- 1.5 litre (full cream)
  • Sugar- 1 cup
  • Water 1/2 cup
  • Cardamom powder a pinch
  • Gulab jal one teaspoon
  • Lemon water two table spoons

How to make Chenna Murki

  1. Boil the milk, add lemon water, stir till the whey separates.
  2. Sieve the milk in muslin cloth and squeeze nicely.
  3. Put this squeezed chenna under water for 15 minutes.
  4. Refrigerate chenna for half an hour.
  5. Cut into small pieces.
  6. Take a pan, put sugar and water.
  7. Boil it till one thread consistency.
  8. Add pieces of cottage cheese and cardamom powder followed by rose water.
  9. Stir it continuously on medium flame for five minutes.
  10. When sugar syrup thickens, switch off the flame and again stir till it is dry.
  11. Separate the pieces from sugar syrup. and it is ready to serve.
My Tip: Readymade cottage cheese can be used and saffron strings can also be added.
