A sweet bread found in traditional Indian bakeries.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Flour - 1 1/2 cups + 2 tablespoons
  2. Sugar - 4- 5 tablespoon
  3. Warm milk - 1/2 cup
  4. Oil / butter - 1 1/2 tablespoon
  5. Yeast - 1 1/4 teaspoon
  6. Warm water - 2 tablespoon
  7. Salt

Instructions

  1. Dissolve a teaspoon of sugar in warm water and mix in the yeast. Leave aside for 5 minutes.
  2. Take flour, salt and remaining sugar in a bowl. Add the oil and mix with fingers.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and mix gently.
  4. Now add milk little by little and make a soft dough. Knead for 5 minutes. Do not add all the milk together. Only as much as required.
  5. Oil the bowl and apply oil on the dough as well. Cover the bowl with cling film and leave for 1 hour to rise.
  6. After the dough has risen, take out on the platform and punch down for 10 minutes.
  7. Make buns or a loaf and put it in the baking pan. Leave for 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven at 180 C. Bake the bread for 15-20 minutes. Mine were ready in 15 minutes.
  9. Let cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes. Can be enjoyed warm or cold.
