ABOUT Phoolgobi Malai Curry or Cauliflower in Coconut Gravy RECIPE

This is my take on the famous dish of Bengal Prawn Malai Curry. I made this version for my guest who were vegetarians but wanted to eat Bengali specialities. The recipe was a hit. So sharing it with you all.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 2 medium size cauliflowers cut into florets
  2. 2 medium size tomatoes chopped finely
  3. 1 tsp Ginger paste
  4. Mustard Oil as required
  5. 2 Tej patta
  6. Whole Garam Masala (cloves cardamom and cinnamon) - Few
  7. 3-4 Green Chillies
  8. Salt and sugar to taste
  9. 1/2 tsp turmeric pwd
  10. 1 tsp Red chilli pwd
  11. 1/2 cup Coconut milk
  12. 2-3 tbsp Grated Coconut
  13. 1/4 tsp Garam masala pwd
  14. 1 tsp Ghee

Instructions

  1. Take the cauliflower florets and marinate them for 5 minutes with salt and a little turmeric. Fry the florets and keep aside.
  2. In the same oil, add tej patta, whole cumin seeds, sugar and let the cumin splutter.
  3. Add the finely chopped tomatoes and ginger paste. Add the dry masalas and fry well till you see the masala leaving the oil. Then add the fried cauliflower and mix well.
  4. Add the coconut milk and cover and cook till Cauliflower becomes tender. This will not take long as they were deep fried before. Lastly add the garam masala, ghee and grated coconut and give a gentle stir.
  5. You can serve this with rice , pulao, luchi or paratha.

Phoolcopi is too favourite to my children, love this yummy dish. Even I love cauliflower.....
