Methi Curd Sambar

Ingredients to make Methi Curd Sambar

  • 1 bunch methi leaves
  • 1/2 litre curd
  • water
  • To Grind:
  • 5 green chillies
  • 5 tablespoon coconut
  • 1/2 inch ginger
  • 10 garlic pods
  • pinch of turmeric
  • 10 - 12 pepper corns
  • 1 teaspoon jeera
  • coriander leaves
  • For Tempering:
  • 1 teaspoon ghee
  • little mustard
  • curry leaves
  • 2 red chilli
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • salt as per taste

How to make Methi Curd Sambar

  1. Grind all the ingredients to a smooth paste under section "to grind".
  2. In a pan add ghee. Heat it. Add mustard. Once it splutters, add jeera.
  3. Now add onion. Fry until it becomes soft. Now add curry leaves and red chilli. Fry.
  4. Now add washed and finely chopped methi leaves. Fry till nice aroma comes out.
  5. Now add the grinded paste. Add little water (only to cook the masala), salt and bring to boil. Cook for 10 - 15 minutes.
  6. Allow it to cool completely.
  7. Now in a bowl add curd, little water and whisk nicely.
  8. Once masala is cooled, add in the whisked curd and mix well. (Do not heat it again).
  9. Serve immediately.

My Tip:

Do not boil after adding the curd. Add the curd just before serving.
