Curd Rava Upma

Ingredients to make Curd Rava Upma

  • Sooji/Rava 2 1/2 cup
  • Oil 3-4tbsp
  • Rai 1 1/2tsp
  • Hing 1tsp
  • Channa dal 1 1/2Tbsp
  • Onion finely chopped 1/2 cup
  • Curry leaves 15-20
  • Salt to taste
  • Sugar 3-4tsp(optional)
  • water 4 cups
  • Beaten curd 3 cups

How to make Curd Rava Upma

  1. Dry roast the rava/sooji.
  2. Roast,stirring continuously on medium flame,till the sooji turns pink or a nice aroma comes.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and add rai.
  4. When the rai crackles add hing.
  5. Add Channa dal and roast on low flame till light brown.
  6. Now add chopped onions.
  7. Mix well and cook on medium flame till it turns light pink.
  8. Add curry leaves,roasted sooji.
  9. Add sugar. Mix everything well.
  10. Roast for 4-5 minutes on medium flame.
  11. Now add half of the water mix well.
  12. Then add remaning water.
  13. After adding water add half of curd mix well.
  14. Then add remaning curd.
  15. Depending on the quality of sooji ,more or less water and curd required.
  16. Sooji mixture is runny at this point.
  17. Let sooji cook on low flame,untill all the liquid gets absorbed.
  18. Stir in between,so that it will not stick at the bottom.
  19. Turn off the flame and serve hot.
My Tip: Buttermilk can be used in place of beayen curd.vegetable of your choice can be added.
