Ingredients to make Doi Potol(pointed gourd in yoghurt)

  • Parval or potol 500 grams whole
  • Ginger paste 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic paste 1/2 tablespoon
  • Turmeric powder 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoon
  • Kalonji seeds 1 teaspoon
  • Green chilli 3 to 4 slit
  • Kashmiri red chilli powder 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh coriander leaves handful
  • Fresh curd 100 grams
  • Sugar and salt to taste
  • Shahi garam masala 1 teaspoon
  • Onion paste is optional 1 medium

How to make Doi Potol(pointed gourd in yoghurt)

  1. Marinade the potol with salt and turmeric for 15 minutes. Fry them slightly golden brown and keep aside.
  2. For Gravy:
  3. Add oil in wok. Add kalonji, then add green chilly.
  4. Add the all masalas and ginger garlic paste, fry them.
  5. Add whipped curd, salt, sugar and water.
  6. Add all the vegetables, garam masala and let it cook.
  7. When cooked, remove from fire and top it up with ghee and serve.
