ABOUT Shahi Khichdi RECIPE

Most of us haVE tried khichdi with Basmati rice, I have tried this with Biriyani rice and the taste is really awsome..try it!

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Fortune biryani rice soaked 300 grams
  2. Pulses (moong, masoor, bengal gram) soaked 250 grams
  3. Veg(carrot, cabbageor seasonal vegetable) 2 cups
  4. Potato 3 big cubed
  5. Dried red chilli 2/3
  6. Garam masala 1 teaspoon
  7. Seasoning with bay leaves, cardamom, clove, cinnamon
  8. Turmeric 1 teaspoon
  9. Cumin 1/2 teaspoon
  10. Coriander powder 1 teaspoon
  11. Ghee 2 teaspoon
  12. Salt and sugar to taste
  13. Mustard oil as per required for frying

Instructions

  1. Soak the rice and pulses for 30 minutes.
  2. Pressure cook the pulses.
  3. Cut the vegetables into cubes.
  4. Add oil in wok, and fry the vegetables.
  5. Add the ginger and garlic paste.
  6. Add the masalas. Saute it.
  7. Add ghee in the handi, add the whole garam masala.
  8. Add water and bring it to boil.
  9. Add the pulses.
  10. Add cooked vegetables.
  11. Let it cook for 30 to 40 minutes.
  12. Serve it with papad or pakoras.
