About Vanila Panna Cotta with Pomegranate Glaze

A classic Italian desert of sweetened cream thickened with gelatin and moulded. Here I have succesfully experimented this desert with replacement of gelatin. Many vegans and vegetarians choose not to eat food containing gelatin. So here I have avoided using it and instead used arrowroot powder. It is a flavourless powder obtained from arrowroot plants which is perfectly good for our health and beneficial in many ways. Finally I must say, did not know it was so easy to make. Now I know I can enjoy this desert anytime every time.

  1. First keep the milk and sugar to boil.
  2. Add in the cream.
  3. Mix arrowroot powder in half cup milk and keep aside.
  4. Add the vanilla essence to the milk and cream mixture.
  5. Add the arrowroot milk gradually to the milk and cream mixture.

  7. Within 2 minutes the mixture will thicken.
  8. Now keep chilled ceramic cups ready.
  9. Pour the mixture in the cups.
  10. Refrigerate for an hour.
  11. To prepare the glaze:
  12. Take a sauce pan and add the pomegrenate juice, sugar, all purpose flour and keep stirring on medium to high flame.
  13. As soon as you get a thick but pouring consistency switch off the flame.
  14. Now let it cool.
  15. Take the chilled panna cotta and demold.
  16. Immerse the bottom side of cups in hot water for few seconds and loosen the sides with a knife or spoon.
  17. Inverse on a plate.
  18. Now pour the glaze on it with a spoon.
  19. Garnish with pomegranate seeds.
  20. Eat right away.
My Tip: Immersing the bottom of ready molds in hot water for few seconds helps in demolding them easily.
