ABOUT Rasabali RECIPE

Rasabali is a famous sweet dish of odisha which consists of deep fried flattened chenna soaked in flavoured milk. It is also included in chapanbhog in Jagannath temple in Odisha.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Cottage cheese 250 grams
  2. Milk 500 grams
  3. Suji 1 tablespoon
  4. Flour 1 teaspoon
  5. Cardamom powder 1 teaspoon
  6. Sugar 200 grams
  7. Oil for fry
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Saffron 1/4 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Prepare cottage cheese from fresh milk and drain extra water from cottage cheese.
  2. Add suji, flour, and baking powder to make a smooth dough out of this.
  3. Divide the dough in small equal parts.
  4. Roll the ball like rope and turn it back to give a wheel shape.
  5. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the round shape rasabali till golden brown from both the side.
  6. Meanwhile heat another pan and boil 2 cups milk.
  7. Add sugar, kesar and cardamom into the milk.
  8. Now add the fried rasabali in milk and boil it for 5 to 8 minutes.
  9. Serve hot or cold.
