Ingredients to make Imarti/Imirti

  • Urad dal/split Bengal gram- 130 gm
  • Rice- 50 gm
  • Saffron color- 1/4 tsp
  • Water- 1 or 1 1/2 cup
  • Sugar- 600 gm
  • Water- 300 ml
  • oil- for frying
  • Chopped pistachios- for garnishing

How to make Imarti/Imirti

  1. Soak urad dal and rice in water for 2 hours.
  2. Now drain the water. Grind urad dal, rice & saffron color in a grinder. Make a smooth paste.
  3. You will need probably 1 or 1.5 cups of water to make paste. Paste should be neither too thick nor too much pouring.
  4. In another vessel, add water & sugar. Make one thread chashni.
  5. Heat oil in a large karahi..
  6. Take a piping bag. Pour this mixture into it.
  7. Oil should be hot. Now make imarti shapes and cook till you see orange red color.
  8. Dip it in chashni for few minutes.
  9. Garnish it with chopped pistachios.
My Tip: You can use cream as garnishing.
