ABOUT Rava /Sooji Dhokla RECIPE

Dhokla is a vegetarian snack delicacy from Gujarati cuisine. It is generally served as breakfast as well as in evening snack.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 2 cups sooji
  2. 2 cups thick curd
  3. 1 teaspoon sugar
  4. salt to taste
  5. 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  6. grated green chilli
  7. salt to taste
  8. 2 teaspoon oil
  9. 1/4 cup water or as required
  10. 1 teaspoon eno or 1 teaspoon baking soda
  11. For tempering : 2 teaspoon oil
  12. 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  13. few curry leaves
  14. coriander leaves

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl take rava and curd.
  2. Add ginger, salt, chilli and sugar mix well to form a thick batter.
  3. Rest for 20 minutes or till rava absorbs moisture.
  4. Add the eno mix gently till the batter turn frothy.
  5. Transfer to the greased plate.
  6. Steam the dhokla batter for 15 minutes.
  7. Transfer it into a plate and cut into desired pieces.
  8. Now heat a pan add oil, hing, mustard seeds, green chillies, curry leaves and saute.
  9. Sprinkle these on the dhokla.
  10. Finally serve soft and spongy rava dhokla with green chutney.
