Mango Podi Annam

Ingredients to make Mango Podi Annam

  • Dry Mango Powder – 1 tablespoon ( based on the sourness of raw mango used) ,
  • Boiled Rice – 2 cups,
  • Groundnuts – 1 tablespoon,
  • Bengal gram – 1 tablespoon,
  • Black gram- 1/2 tablespoon,
  • Coriander fruits – 1 tablespoon,
  • Cumin seeds -1 tablespoon,
  • Asafoetida – 1 or 2 pinches,
  • Red chilly ( optional ) – 1 ,
  • Oil – 2 tablespoons,
  • Salt to taste,
  • Turmeric powder – 2 pinches,
  • Curry leaves - 2 sprigs.

How to make Mango Podi Annam

  1. Heat one tablespoon of oil in a pan. Add all the above mentioned ingredients ( except salt ) and saute them until they turn golden brown in color.
  2. Turn off the flame. Allow it to rest in order to attain room temperature.
  3. Take a dry mixie jar . Grind all the sauted ingredients into a coarse powder.
  4. Now take a shallow vessel. Transfer the already boiled rice into it and sprinkle 1 tablespoon of oil. Add salt to it as per your taste.
  5. Then add the grounded powder to the boiled rice and mix it thoroughly in all the directions so that the morsel absorbs the powder , oil and salt mixture well.
  6. Transfer it into a serving bowl. Garnish with curry leaves and serve hot .
