ABOUT Bread Idli- Idli with a Twist RECIPE

Bread that looks like idlis, with spicy mixture on them , an absolute delight to be served as snacks.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 7 - 8 Slices of Bread
  2. 3 boiled n mashed potatoes
  3. 1 onion-sliced
  4. 2 slit green chillies
  5. 15-20 Curry Leaves
  6. 2 tsp Mustard seeds
  7. 1 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  8. 1 tsp Coriander powder
  9. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  10. 1 cup curd
  11. Oil as needed
  12. chopped coriander leaves for garnishing
  13. Grated coconut for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a pan, add 1 tsp of mustard seeds. Let the seeds crackle.
  2. Add 8-10 curry leaves. Add sliced onions.
  3. Let the onions cook properly.
  4. Add 1 tsp turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp red chilli powder and 1tsp coriander powder.
  5. Add the boiled and mashed potatoes. Let it cook properly , keep aside to let it cool.
  6. For preparing spiced curd- Add 1 tbsp oil in a pan. Add Mustard seeds. Let it crackle. Add 8-10 curry leaves. Add remaining red chilli , turmeric powder. Put this mixture in the curd, and give it a good mix.
  7. Now we will prepare the bread idlis. Take a small bowl , keep it on the bread to cut it into a round shape. Put the potato mixture over the bread.
  8. Now take 1 tbsp oil in a non stick or grill pan , keep the bread with the potato side down on the pan to make it crisp. You can sprinkle oil as per your choice. Apply the spiced curd on the top side of the bread
  9. Cover with a lid and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  10. Serve hot with grated coconut and coriander leaves.
