Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. 1kg of crabs clean and cut into 4 pieces (each crab)
  2. 2.5 tblsp coconut oil ( you can use veg oil too)
  3. 2 sprigs curry leaves
  4. 1 small tomato
  5. 1 small onion sliced finely
  6. Curry masala: 1.5 cups coconut
  7. 1tblsp tamarind pulp
  8. 6 garlic cloves
  9. 1 inch ginger
  10. 1 small onion diced
  11. 1 tsp turmeric
  12. 16 red chillies
  13. 1/2 tsp Methi seeds
  14. 15 pepper pan roasted
  15. 1tsp cumin pan roasted
  16. 2 tsp coriander seeds pan roasted
  17. A little water to grind all the curry masala ingredients

Instructions

  1. Heat 2 tblsp oil add the onion and fry until golden, add tomato and let it turn mushy.
  2. Next add the ground masala and fry for a while till it oil oozes from the sides.
  3. Add crab pieces and add 2-3 cups of water. Add salt as per taste.Bring the curry to an rolling boil turn the gas to lowest heat. Cover the vessel and simmer for ten minutes.
  4. The crabs will be cooked by now. Turn off the gas. Heat the remaining oil in the tadka pan add curry leaves. Let it sizzle and pour over the curry.
  5. Serve hot with steamed rice or pulao.
