Ingredients to make Magdal

  • urad dhuli (ground) 250 gms
  • powdered sugar 250 gms
  • chirongi nuts 50 gms
  • desi ghee 250 gms (can be more or less)
  • cardamom powder 1 teaspoon

How to make Magdal

  1. Heat ghee in a kadhai. Add the ground dal.
  2. Cook on a medium to low flame, keep mixing till it becomes pink.
  3. Turn the gas off. Leave to cool down.
  4. After it cools down, mix by adding little quantities of sugar repeatedly till it becomes white. Mix for 15-20 minutes.
  5. Mix cardamom powder. Make balls of the dough and place some chironji on top to garnish.
  6. Uttar Pradesh's famous sweet magdal is ready.

My Tip:

This sweet is best made in winters, in summers it might not remain intact.
