Ingredients to make Unnakaya

  • Banana (ripen but not over) 500gm
  • Coconut 1 cup
  • Sugar 2 tablespoon
  • Cardomon 5-6 crushed
  • Cashews chopped 1 tablespoon
  • Raisins 2 teaspoon
  • ghee 2 teaspoon
  • Oil for frying

How to make Unnakaya

  1. Cut the banana to small pieces boil it. Peel off the skin and smash the banana and keep it aside
  2. To a pan heat ghee add raisins cashews and cardomon stirr fry
  3. Add coconut and sugar to the mix and stir fry . Allow the mixture to cool
  4. Apply ghee on both palms. Divide the mashed bananans into balls of even size
  5. Press well the banana balls into round shape with your hands . Add the coconut mix to the centre . Seal well the edges and make a cylindrical shape with your hands.
  6. Make all the banana balls to unnakaya by the same method. Make sure u have sealed the edges.
  7. Deep fry all unnakayas till it changes the color into brown.
My Tip: Banana should not be over ripen.
