Ingredients to make Mango buns

  • All purpose flour - 1 cup
  • Mango puree - 3/4 cup or less, strained.
  • Sugar - 2 tbsp + 1 tsp
  • Butter - 2 tbsp + extra for brushing
  • Salt
  • Yeast - 1 3/4 tsp
  • Warm water - 2 tbsp

How to make Mango buns

  1. Add the 1 tsp sugar to warm water and mix. Add yeast in this and leave aside for 10 minutes.
  2. Take flour in a bowl, add salt and remaining sugar. Add the yeast mixture, soft butter and mix lightly.
  3. Pour mango puree little by little and a make a sticky dough.
  4. Sprinkle flour on a work surface and take out the dough. Knead for at least 10 minutes. Oil the bowl and dough, cover with cling film and keep in a warm place for an hour or hour an half.
  5. Take out on counter and punch down the dough. Knead again for another 10 minutes.
  6. Make bun shape and keep on a greased baking tray. Leave for half an hour for second proofing.
  7. Preheat oven at 180 C
  8. Bake the buns for 14 minutes. Or as per your oven temperature. They won't become very brown so avoid baking for long. Take out the buns a minute before time and brush with butter. Put back in the oven for the last one minute.
  9. Take out of the oven and cover the buns with a moist kitchen towel. Just wrap over the baking tray. Leave for half an hour. This step is optional.
  10. Serve warm or at room temperature.
My Tip: The dough has to be soft and sticky. Try kneading without adding too much flour.
