Ingredients to make Beetroot dhokla ( cooked in idli moulds )

  • 1 cup besan ( bengal gram flour )
  • 1 cup sour curd
  • 1/2 beetroot grated
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Juice of half lemon
  • 1 tsp fruit salt
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • 1 tsp green chilli paste
  • Salt as per taste
  • Water as required
  • FOR TEMPERING - 2 tsp oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 2 Green chilli cut in halves
  • Some curry leaves

How to make Beetroot dhokla ( cooked in idli moulds )

  1. Combine the yellow gram flour and curd , add water for dhokla consistency .
  2. Add grated beetroot , ginger green chilli paste , Salt , oil and lemon juice and mix well .
  3. Meanwhile grease idli moulds and put water on steamer for boiling .
  4. Now add eno salt into the dhokla batter and immediately pour the batter into the idli moulds .
  5. Steam it for about 15 - 20 minutes or till dhokla are cooked . When dhoklas are cooked keep aside .
  6. Now take a pan add oil , add mustard seeds , when seeds start crackle add green chilli and curry leaves . After 2 minutes turn off the gas .
  7. Pour this tempering over the prepared dhoklas . Serve with chutney of your choice .
