How to make Avarekalu usli

  1. Soak the averekalu beans in boiling water for 1 to 1 and 1/2 hours. You can also soak them for 8 hours or overnight.
  2. Drain the excess water and pressure cook it for 3 whistles.
  3. In a pan add 1 tsp of oil. Once the oil is hot add the mustard seeds and urad dal. Once these seeds pop, add the curry leaves and hing.
  4. Add in the chopped onions, green chili and saute until the onions are translucent. Then add the pressure cooked beans along with water. Add required salt as per taste.
  5. When most of the water has evaporated, add in the grated coconut. Give it a good stir.
  6. Your Avarekalu sundal is now ready to be consumed as a prasad or snack.
My Tip: Pressure cook the beans properly otherwise this dish will not taste good.
