Masala Vada

Ingredients to make Masala Vada

  • 1 cup Chana Dal (Soaked and drained)
  • 2-3 Green Chillies
  • 2-3 Dry Red Chillies
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Coriander chopped
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Mint Leaves chopped
  • 1/2 cup Fresh Coconut Grated
  • 1/2 cup Thin Sliced Onions
  • Salt as per taste
  • 1/2 tsp Hing
  • Oil for frying

How to make Masala Vada

  1. Wash and soak chana dal for 4-5 hours. Drain the soaked chana dal nicely. In mixer jar take dal, green chillies, red chillies, cumin seeds. Grind coarsely.
  2. In mixing bowl take the ground dal. Now add coriander, mint, coconut, salt and hing. Mix nicely.
  3. Take a small portion on your palm and give shape of a vada.Fry these vadas in hot oil till golden and crispy.
  4. Serve hot with your favourite sambhar rice or chutney or tomato ketchup or a hot cup of tea or coffee.
My Tip: Add 1 tsp Soaked whole Chana dal . It will give a nice crunchy taste
