Rava Sweet Paniyaram

Ingredients to make Rava Sweet Paniyaram

  • Rava/sooji 1/2 cup
  • Maida 1/2 cup
  • Sugar/jaggery 1/2 cup
  • Milk 1/2 cup + 1/2 cup extra
  • cardamom powder 1 tsp
  • Baking soda 1/4 tsp
  • Ghee/oil to apply

How to make Rava Sweet Paniyaram

  1. In a bowl add rava, maida, jaggery, 1/2 of milk and mix it thoroughly.
  2. Save extra half cup milk for later use. Let the mixture rest for one hour.
  3. After an hour add cardamom powder, Baking powder and mix the batter.
  4. If batter is thick add remaining milk little by little and mix it to idli batter consistency. (You won't need all the milk)
  5. Heat Paniyaram pan and add ghee to each pit. Fill each pit with 3/4th batter. Cook on low flame.
  6. Once outer crust gets cooked flip it to another side. Add ghee to this side too.
  7. Cook on both sides until Paniyaram turns golden brown. Serve hot or cold.
My Tip: It is important to soak the batter at least for an hour. You can even add grated or chopped coconut. Cook on low flame.
