Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Whole Green moong dal 250 gms
  2. Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  3. Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  6. Pinch of hing
  7. Chopped onion 1
  8. Grated ginger 1 tsp
  9. Minced garlic 1 tsp
  10. Chopped tomatoes 1
  11. Green chillies 3-4
  12. Ghee 1 tsp
  13. Chopped coriander leaves

Instructions

  1. Wash the green moong and soak for 15mins.
  2. To begin, into the pressure cooker, add the moong dal along with the water, turmeric powder, red Chilli powder and salt.
  3. Cook the dal in the pressure cooker until you here to 3-4 whistles. Simmer the heat to low and continue to cook for another 10 mins.
  4. After 10mins turn off the heat and allow the pressure to release naturally.
  5. Open the cooker and you will notice that the dal is well cooked.
  6. Now, that the dal is cooked, we will make the seasoning.
  7. Heat the ghee in a small Kadhai add cumin seeds allow it to crackle. Now add hing, garlic. After few secs add ginger, green chillies, onion and saute.
  8. Onion turns into pinkish now add tomatoes & salt. Cover the lid for 1-2 mins. Turn off the heat.
  9. Add this seasoning to the cooked moong dal tadka. Give it a stir.
  10. Finally stir in the chopped Coriander leaves and the juice from lemon.
  11. Serve the dal warm with tawa roti.
