Uggrani | How to make Uggrani
About Uggrani Recipe
Uggrani is a dish prepared with puffed rice. This is one of the staple breakfast items of Northern Karnataka, Telangana, Marathwada region and is known as uggrani/uggani, borugula/bongula upma, susheela resp. This is best accompanied with mirchi pakoda or mirchi bajji as it is locally called.

Ingredients to make Uggrani
- 500 gms of puffed rice
- A pinch of turmeric powder
- salt to taste
- 2-3 teaspoons of mill roasted chana dal powder
- coriander leaves to garnish
- oil for tempering
- 1 spoon each of mustard seeds cumin seeds and urad dal
- 2 teaspoons of peanuts
- A sprig of curry leaves
- water for soaking
How to make Uggrani
My Tip:
Based on one's taste, sliced onions can be added too.
