ABOUT RED VELVET CRUNCHIES RECIPE

We all love red velvet cake for it's richness and flavour, so made this red velvet cookies with same flavour and taste.You can make either as soft cookies or like crispy, crunchy biscuits. As we love crunchy biscuits I made them cripsy by altering oven temperature.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. Maida/ All purpose flour- 1 1/2 cup
  2. Cocoa powder- 1/8 cup.
  3. Baking powder- 1 tsp.
  4. Baking soda- 1/8 tsp.
  5. Salt- 1/4 tsp.
  6. Softened butter- 1/4 cup.
  7. Sugar- 1 cup.
  8. Egg- 2 nos.
  9. Buttermilk- 1 tablespoon.
  10. Vanilla Essence- 1 tsp.
  11. Vinegar- 1 tsp.
  12. Red food colour- 3 tsp.
  13. Chocolate chips or chopped dark compound- 1/2 cup.
  14. Sugar cinnamon powder- 1 cup (grind 3/4 cup sugar with 3 pcs of cinnamon).

Instructions

  1. In a bowl add flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt and mix well for a minute.
  2. In another bowl add butter, sugar and beat till sugar mixes with butter well.
  3. Now add one egg at a time and beat well till frothy.
  4. When both the eggs are added and beated well, add buttermilk, vanilla, vinegar and food color. Beat well.
  5. Add flour mix and mix till combined.
  6. Finally add chocolate chips and mix.
  7. Cover the dough and refrigerate for 3 hours or till the dough becomes firm to make balls.
  8. After sufficient refrigeration,using greased hands make small balls out of dough, roll in sugar cinnamon powder and place on greased baking tray.
  9. Slightly press the balls on top to make little flat.
  10. Preheat oven to 170”C to 20 mins.
  11. Bake the cookies in preheated oven for 15-20 mins.
  12. When cookies turn crisp at edge, remove from oven and let it cool down a bit.
  13. Enjoy, crispy, yummy, colourful red velvet cookies with a scoop of ice cream.
