ABOUT Spicy Indian Goat Curry RECIPE

To prepare any type of goat recipe, first you have to make sure that the meat is fresh. If it isn’t fresh, it won’t get soft and will be hard and chewy. So as soon as you get the meat, prepare it on that day itself. To make sure that the meat is fresh, it should be bright red in color and not brown or faded red. The picture below shows that the goat meat should look.This spicy Indian goat curry is prepared for lunch or dinner and loved by all. So here is the step by step recipe of this mutton curry.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Goat meat 500 Grams
  2. Lime Juice squeezed out of 1 lime
  3. Ginger 1 inch
  4. Coriander leaves 1 bunch
  5. Garlic cloves 3-4
  6. Green chillies 3-4
  7. Turmeric powder- 1 tsp
  8. Salt 1 tsp
  9. Cloves 8-10
  10. Black pepper 8-10
  11. Fennel seeds 1 tsp
  12. Cinnamon stick 1 inch
  13. 1 Bay leaf
  14. Coriander seeds 1 tsp
  15. Black cardamom 1
  16. Dry red Chillies 5-6
  17. Freshly grated coconut 1 cup
  18. Tamarind ball of a marble size
  19. 1 onion finely sliced

Instructions

  1. Rinse the goat meat well, apply lime juice and 1 tsp of salt. Keep it aside for 10 mins.
  2. Grind the ingredients from 3-8 with very less water to form a smooth paste. Apply this paste to the goat pieces and marinade 30 mins.
  3. Fry the dry spices from 9-16 on a medium heat in a pan with 1 tbsp oil Keep it aside after you get a nice aroma.
  4. In the same pan, fry the sliced onions, cut 2-3 garlic pieces, fry this for 2-3 mins. Add in coconut, fry on a medium heat until the coconut changes color to brown.
  5. Let the mixture cool down, grind this fried coconut mixture along with fried garam masala and tamarind. Keep it for later use.
  6. Pressure cook the marinated goat meat upto 7-8 whistles. If you don’t want to make use of the pressure cooker, then cook it for atleast 1 hour or until the meat gets tender, while checking it in between.
  7. Once the mutton is fully cooked, and the pressure is released from the pressure cooker, add the above gravy into it, boil it for 7-8 mins. Add salt according to the taste.
  8. Serve this goat curry or mutton with roti, paratha, naan or even rice.

I love it because u have specified goat - people don't know the difference between lamb and goat !!! Goat is tastier !!
