Carrot Halwa

Ingredients to make Carrot Halwa

  • 1 kg grated carrots (use the red ones)
  • 400 gms sugar
  • 200 gms mawa/ khoya
  • 3 - 4 pods green cardamom (powdered)
  • 100 gms almonds (chopped)

How to make Carrot Halwa

  1. In a pan take the grated carrots and sugar. Mix well and heat on low fire.
  2. Cover and cook till the carrot is soft and almost cooked. Keep checking and stirring at regular intervals. It will get cooked in the melted sugar. No water is required.
  3. Add the mawa and almonds and mix well.
  4. Add the cardamom powder and keep on stirring till all the moisture evaporates.

My Tip:

If you feel that the carrot will burn before the sugar stars melting, make a well in the centre and pour 1 tablespoon milk. The milk will keep the carrots from burning till the sugar starts melting.
