Chingudi Sukhua Chura (Spiced Dried Prawns)

Ingredients to make Chingudi Sukhua Chura (Spiced Dried Prawns)

  • 2 cups of dried shrimp (chingudi sukhua)
  • 3 dry red chillis
  • 7 garlic flakes
  • 2 green chillis
  • 1 tsp mustard oil
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 tsp chopped cilantro
  • salt to taste

How to make Chingudi Sukhua Chura (Spiced Dried Prawns)

  1. Wash and drain the prawns.
  2. Crush the garlic flakes. Cut the onions and green chillies into small pieces.
  3. Heat 1 tsp of mustard oil in a wok. Break the red chillies into 2 - 3 numbers and add to the wok along with half of the crushed garlic and washed prawns.
  4. Fry till the prawns become crispy .
  5. Remove from the wok and crush the prawns with a rolling pin.
  6. Add the remaining garlic, onions, cilantro and green chillis. Sprinkle a few drops of raw mustard oil and salt. Mix well .
  7. Serve with white rice and dal or 'Pakhala', the famous watery rice from Odisha.
