Baked rum styled eggs

Ingredients to make Baked rum styled eggs

  • 3 eggs
  • 2 sweet buns
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 6-7 cloves garlic
  • 2 jalapenos
  • Mozzarella cheese grated
  • 2 cheese slices (Amul)
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 2-3 tbsp of rum (American)
  • salt as per taste
  • oil if required

How to make Baked rum styled eggs

  1. Slice the buns in half and scoop out the bread to get 4 hollow buns. Place cheese slices and grated cheese in each and bake for a few minutes (150 degree centigrade for 15 minutes)
  2. Heat a frying pan, add the butter followed by chopped garlic, jalapenos, scooped out bread and 1 beaten egg. Saute till the mixture become crunchy.
  3. In an another pan make 2 sunny side up fried eggs. With the helped a spatula and a spoon separate the yolk and whites. Mix the whites with the bread mixture in the other pan. Keep the egg yolks aside.
  4. Take out the baked cheesy buns. In the fry pan add the rum and remove. Top the buns with the mixture and bake for another 5 minutes.
  5. Just before serving place the egg yolk on top and drizzle with tomato ketchup (optional).

My Tip:

If using old monk or another rum use it less as you just want the aroma and not the bitter taste. You can also omit this step.
