ABOUT Vada RECIPE

A favourite snack that is crisp on the outside and soft inside.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 250g Urad dal
  2. 1 Onion chopped
  3. 3 Green chillies chopped
  4. 3 tbsp Rice
  5. 2 tbsp Ginger chopped
  6. 1-2tbsp Curry leaves crushed
  7. Oil as needed for frying
  8. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Soak Urad dal and rice in a bowl of water overnight.
  2. Grind this in a blender the next day to make a paste.
  3. Add onion, green chillies, ginger, salt and curry leaves. Mix well.
  4. Take a good portion in your hands and flatten it, make a hole in the center.
  5. heat oil in a deep frying pan, fry the vadas till golden brown.
  6. Remove and place them over paper towels to drain excess oil.
  7. Serve hot with sambar or chutney.
