Bitter gourds are so healthy that they should be consumed always, so this is a delightful way to have them.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Bittergourd. 1/2kg
  2. Onion 4-6
  3. Ginger garlic paste 2tsp
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Potato 6-8
  6. Red chilli powder 2tsp
  7. Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  8. Coriander powder 3tsp
  9. Thread for tying karelas
  10. oil
  11. Fennel seeds 1tsp
  12. Cumin seeds 1tsp

Instructions

  1. Peel karelas and make a cut from the. Centre of karelas and apply salt and turmeric powder over it generously overnight.(this is the age old trick for removing bitterness from the karelas)
  2. Prepare masala by grinding onion ginger garlic .
  3. In a pan add oil.crackle cumin seeds fennel seeds.add the grinded masala . add spices and salt .cook till masala start leaving the oil..
  4. Fill this masala in karelas .peel potatoes and stuff masala in it too.
  5. Tie a thread nicely over the karelas so that masala remains intact
  6. Cook it in a pan with oil.
  7. It will take about 40-45 minutes to cook karela properly
  8. Yum vege ready.
