One pot Tasty Sambar rice

Ingredients to make One pot Tasty Sambar rice

  • Gingerly oil 2 tbsp
  • Mustard for seasoning
  • Jeera for seasoning
  • Methi for seasoning
  • Turmeric Powder
  • Hing
  • Sambar powder
  • curry leaves
  • Coriander leaves
  • Ghee 1 tsp
  • Salt
  • 2 green chillies
  • 2 medium size onion
  • 6 garlic pods
  • 2 carrot
  • 10 - 15 Broad beans
  • 1 potato
  • 2 tomato
  • peas
  • 1 Capsicum
  • 2 Radish
  • Tamrarind lemon size
  • Raw rice 1 cup
  • Tur dal 1/2 cup

How to make One pot Tasty Sambar rice

  1. First soak Lemon size Tamarind. Always use old tamarind which is healthy
  2. Take 1 cup Raw rice and 1/2 cup Tur dal and rinse it 4-5 times and soak it in drinking water
  3. Cut Required Vegetables
  4. Add Gingerly oil. When the oil is hot add Mustard. When Mustard splutter add Jeera and Methi
  5. Add 2 sliced onions , green chillies and curry leaves
  6. Fry them and add 6 garlic pods. Fry until they are cooked properly
  7. Now add Carrot, Broad Beans, Radish, Peas, Capsicum, Potato and Tomato. Saute them for few mins
  8. Get tamarind extract and add it to the veggies
  9. Add 2 TSP salt, turmeric powder and hing and boil for few mins
  10. Now add 2 tbsp sambar powder and boil it.
  11. Add soaked Rice and dal. Add 3 cups of water
  12. Add handful of coriander leaves
  13. Pressure cook for 5 whistles
  14. Add Ghee after presure releases
  15. Mix well and serve hot with fryms

My Tip:

Corriander is must for sambar rice. Always use old tamarind and unpolished tur dal.I use stainless steel pressure cooker
