About Khadu ka kheer Recipe

This is an Hyderabadi authentic dessert which consists of the ingredients bottle gourd, sabudana, dryfruit, khoya. All these ingredients taste awesome together.

Khadu ka kheer

Ingredients to make Khadu ka kheer

  • Milk 1 litre
  • 1 medium sized khadu grated
  • 100 gms khoya
  • cashew nuts, 1 handful grounded to a paste
  • Basmati rice, 1 handful soaked in water for 10 mins
  • Elachi powder 1 tsp
  • sabudana 3 tbsp, soaked for 10 mins
  • sugar 2 taste
  • Green colour 2-3 drops
  • Vanilla essence 1-2 drops
  • Few almonds, cut and finely chopped to garnish

How to make Khadu ka kheer

  1. Boil the grated kadhu in milk till the khadu is properly cooked.
  2. Wash and dry the rice. Set it aside.
  3. Boil the milk, add the cashew paste, rice, sabudana and mix it well. Keep stirring till it's done or let it cook in the pressure cooker till 2 whistles blow.
  4. Next, add the elachi powder when the rice is done. Add the cooked kadhu and continue to cook till the consistency becomes thick.
  5. Finally add sugar, khoa, vanilla, green colour. Bring it to boil, then let it cool it and keep it in the fridge for sometime.
  6. Garnish with almonds and serve it cold.
