Ingredients to make Rich Pound Cake

  • All purpose flour(maida)- 1 ½ cups
  • Sugar(powdered)- 1 ½ cups
  • Butter- 100gms
  • Eggs- 3
  • Cream- ½ cup
  • Vanilla extract- 1 tsp
  • Salt- 1/4 tsp
  • Baking powder- 1 tsp

How to make Rich Pound Cake

  1. Make sure all the ingredients are at room temperature.
  2. Grease and line a loaf pan.
  3. In a large and clean bowl cream the butter and sugar together till fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Now add the cream and vanilla essence and mix well.
  6. Sieve the flour, baking powder and salt together and fold into the above mixture with a light hand.
  7. Pour into the baking tin.
  8. Place in a COLD oven and turn on oven to 180 deg. C.
  9. Bake for an hour or till golden on top.
  10. A toothpick inserted in the center should come out clean.

Hi Bindiya, This is a lovely cake . Your slices look so perfect. Can you please specify the size of the loaf pan? How about 7x3 inches? And yes, the oven has not been preheated. I've read that texture of cakes baked in cold oven is dense. I am really keen to try this out. Thanks for sharing :)
