Gobhi Matar

Ingredients to make Gobhi Matar

  • 2 cups Cauliflower (gobhi) small florets
  • 3/4 cup peas
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 medium size onion finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes
  • Salt acc to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chilly powder
  • 2 green chillies
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon dry mango powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger grated/julienned
  • some coriander leaves

How to make Gobhi Matar

  1. Heat oil in a deep pan.Add cumin seeds and let sizzle.Now add chopped onions.Fry until golden brown.
  2. Add grated ginger,green chillies,red chilly powder,turmeric powder and coriander powder.Mix well.
  3. Now add gobhi and peas .Stir carefully for 4-5 mins.
  4. Grind tomatoes to make a puree in a blender.Mix this puree in with gobhi and peas.
  5. Add salt and 1/2 cup water.Cook on a slow flame.Cover with a lid for sometime so that the gobhi and peas are tender.
  6. Now add dry mango powder.Mix well.Let all the water evaporate, keep stirring gently from time to time to avoid sticking at the bottom.
  7. Garnish with some coriander leaves and black pepper powder and serve hot.
