Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Chickpeas 1 1/2 cups
  2. Potatoes 2
  3. Cumin 2 tsp
  4. Green chillies slit 2 - 4
  5. Ginger Garlic paste 2 tbsp
  6. Coriander powder 2 tsp
  7. Cumin powder 2 tsp
  8. Red chilli powder 1 or 1/2 tsp
  9. Dry mango powder (amchur) 1/2 tsp
  10. Pomegranate seeds (anardana) 1 tbsp
  11. Garam masala powder 1 tsp
  12. Tomatoes 2 medium
  13. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak chickpeas in water overnight. Boil potatoes, peel and cut cubes of 1/2 inch sizes.
  2. Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add cumin seeds, green chillies, ginger garlic paste, coriander powder, cumin powder, red chilli powder, amchur powder, chopped tomatoes, one cup of vegetable stock or water and stir.
  3. In another frying pan heat some oil for frying, add potatoes and shallow fry till golden. Drain and keep aside.
  4. Add boiled chickpeas to the masala mix. Cook on high heat. Roast the cumin seeds and anardana and crush. Add fried potatoes to the chole and mix.
  5. Add in the crushed masala, garam masala and mix. Add in water if required.
  6. Adjust the seasoning in the chole and simmer for few minutes. Serve hot.
