Sabudana Khichdi

Ingredients to make Sabudana Khichdi

  • 1 cup - sabudana or sago
  • 5-7 curry leaves
  • 1 dry red chilly
  • 1/4 cup - roasted peanuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon - red chilly powder
  • sendha namak/Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon - fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoons - cumin seeds
  • 2 - green chillies chopped
  • potato - 1 (Boiled)
  • Oil/ghee - 2 tablespoons
  • A pinch of black pepper powder
  • 1 & 1/2 cups - water

How to make Sabudana Khichdi

  1. Wash and soak sago in water for 2 hours. Drain in a colander and spread sago on a cloth for another 2 hours, so that there is no water left in the sago.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, curry leaves, green chilies and dry red chili. Let it sizzle for a minute.
  3. Now add boiled potato, sago and peanuts. Mix them well.
  4. Add salt, red chilly powder and lime juice. Garnish with some black pepper powder and serve.

If you soak the sabudana in curd over night, it will not stick at all and will be very fluffy and soft.
