Wholewheat Gingerbread House

Ingredients to make Wholewheat Gingerbread House

  • 180 gms butter
  • 125 gms brown sugar
  • 200 gms honey or golden syrup
  • 500 gms wholewheat flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt ( skip if you are using salted butter)
  • 1 tbsp freshly grated ginger,
  • 1 tsp ginger powder

How to make Wholewheat Gingerbread House

  1. Preheat the oven to 170 degrees Celsius. Keep the baking tray greased and lined with paper.
  2. Melt butter in a pan at low heat. Add the sugar and syrup and stir well after removing from the heat.
  3. Add the dry ingredients and mix until blended into a thick dough - note to use your hands to mix this and not a blender.
  4. Roll the dough on a silicon mat or baking sheet, cut it into the shapes you want and then transfer them onto the prepped tray.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes or until firm on the sides. Cool it off on the wire rack and store.
  6. Assemble using royal icing !
