Ingredients to make Millionaires' shortbread

  • 1 1/4 cup salted butter + 1 tbsp
  • 1/3 cup white sugar
  • 1 1/3 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup condensed milk
  • 2 tbsp Maple syrup
  • 1 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips

How to make Millionaires' shortbread

  1. In a bowl, mix together 3/4 cup butter, white sugar and flour until crumbly. Press into the bottom of a greased baking pan. Bake in a preheated oven at 175 degree centigrade for 20 minutes. Remove and cool.
  2. In a saucepan, combine 1/2 cup butter, brown sugar, condensed milk and maple syrup. Bring to a light boil, reduce heat and simmer for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring continuously.
  3. Remove from heat and pour over the cooled crust. Let the caramel cool and set at room temperature.
  4. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine dark chocolate and 1 tbsp butter. Heat for a few second until smooth. Spread over the caramel layer and leave to cool.
  5. Once cool, using a warm knife, cut into squares.
