About Meatloaf Recipe

This delicious meaty loaf has origins that can be traced back to the 5th Century!


Ingredients to make Meatloaf

  • 750gms Mutton/chicken Mince
  • 1 egg
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic, chopped
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup Dried Breadcrumbs
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp Brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp mustard powder
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup tomato ketchup
  • 2 tbsp butter

How to make Meatloaf

  1. In a large bowl, combine the mince meat, egg, breadcrumbs, Milk, salt and black pepper to taste and mix well.
  2. Preheat oven to 180 deg C.Grease a 9 inch loaf pan with butter.
  3. Heat a small pan and add the remaining butter to it, add in the onions and garlic and saute lightly. Tip in this mixture into the mincemeat and mix thoroughly.
  4. In a small bowl combine the mustard, tomato ketchup, Worcestershire and brown sugar and mix well.
  5. Transfer the mincemeat mixture into the loaf pan, pour the sauce on top and bake for 1 hour.
