ABOUT Yogurt Upma RECIPE

There are many ways of making upma, my variation is obtained by varying or emphasising particular spices. In my version for making this more healthy and different tasty to yogurt upma. This is a complete meal in itself, which has all nutrition which is needed by body for day to day routine.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Semolina/ suji 2 cups
  2. Yogurt 2 cups
  3. Soaked split Bengal Gram 1 tablespoon
  4. Clearified butter/ Ghee 1 tablespoon
  5. Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon
  6. Chopped Potatoes in cube 1/2 cup
  7. Chopped bell pepper 1/2 cup
  8. Chopped tomatoes 1/2 cup
  9. grated carrots 1/2 cup
  10. Chopped Coriander leaves/ cilantro 1/4 cup
  11. Chopped green chillies 2 pieces (optional)
  12. Curry leaves 10 to 12
  13. Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  14. Salt to taste
  15. Lemon juice 1 teaspoon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat a ghee in a wok
  2. And in mean while soak Bengal gram in a water.
  3. Add mustard seeds and wait them to sputter
  4. Then add curry leaves, green chillies, Bengal gram, and chopped potatoes.
  5. Fry until potatoes are bit soften.
  6. Now add rest vegetables, salt and termeric and cook for 5 minutes more.
  7. Now take out veggies in plate and keep aside.
  8. In same wok dry roast Semolina until it begins to turn light pink.
  9. Now add yogurt to it, and add water as required to upma.
  10. Now add cooked veggies, mix well.
  11. Yogurt upma is done, switch off the flame.
  12. Plate and add cilantro before serving.
  13. Serve hot and enjoy your healthy meal.
