ABOUT Bottle Gourd Cutlet / Lauki ki Tikki RECIPE

Yummy and healthy cutlets of bottle gourd by using few flour and masala. It is very nutritious and tasty too.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For 7-8 cutlets 
  2. Bottle gourd 250 grams ( grated and squeezed should be 1 cup)
  3. Gram flour 1 tablespoon 
  4. Rice flour 1 tablespoon 
  5. Corn starch 1 teaspoon ( heaped ) 
  6. Bread crumb 2 teaspoon 
  7. Coarsely ground peanut powder 1 tablespoon (heaped )
  8. Carom seeds 1/2 teaspoon 
  9. Red chilly powder 1/2 teaspoon (or as hot u like) 
  10. Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon 
  11. Cumin-coriander powder 1/2 teaspoon 
  12. Grated ginger 1/2 teaspoon   
  13. Finely chopped green chilli 1 
  14. Salt to taste
  15. Semolina 1 & 1/2 tablespoon 
  16. Oil 2 teaspoon
  17. Oil for pan frying cutlets . 

Instructions

  1. First of all grate bottle gourd and squeeze it tightly to remove all juice. this juice can be used in making dal or paratha or any soup or curry.
  2. Take squeezed grated bottle gourd in a deep bowl. Add all ingredients gram fliur, rice flour, corn starch, carom seeds, peanut powder , ginger, salt, green chilli, ginger, red chilly powder , turmeric powder , coriander -cumin powder one by one except semolina and oil for pan frying 
  3. Mix it well. It should be of binding consistency (if not or it is loose then add  little  more gram flour and peanut powder )
  4. Take a small portion from the dough round it and flatten it between your palms.
  5. In a plate sprinkle semolina . now put flattened cutlet on semolina and slightly press it . Turn upside down and again press it. Like this way get all cutlets ready .
  6. In a nonstick pan drizzle little oil and roast cutlets from both the sides on low to medium heat (4-5 at a time) till golden brown and crisp.
  7. Serve with ketchup.
