Ingredients to make Karela sabzi

  • 2 medium sized Karelas
  • 1 medium sized onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • Handful of coriander leaves to garnish
  • Salt to taste

How to make Karela sabzi

  1. Wash and cut the karela pieces into round shapes. Remember to discard the seeds.
  2. Take a pot and boil water in it, once the water is hot put in the karela pieces. Cover with a lid and cook it for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Heat oil in a kadhai/pan, once the oil is hot put in the chopped onion and cook till they are tender.
  4. Put in the ginger-garlic paste, saute and cook for around 1-2 minutes. Then add the spices, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala together and stir well.
  5. Drain the boiled karela and add it into this mixture. Fry and cook them together for 4-5 minutes.
  6. Serve hot with a garnish of chopped coriander leaves.

kya boil krne se karele ke nutrients khatam nhi ho jayenge..??

thank you, I think boiling it will reduce the oil for cooking, never thought of it
